African Music is becoming widely accepted throughout the world, as a lot of African musicians are pushing African music, especially Afrobeat to the international scene.
Over the years, the likes of Davido, Burna Boy, Wizkid, Rema, Omah Lay, and many others have been pushing the Afrobeat to the international scene and this has seen Afrobeat getting more recognition.
In the year 2021, many African musicians also joined the queue in pushing African Music for further international recognitions, the likes of Ckay, Joeboy, Ayra starr, and many other African Artists also joined the race in making African music known worldwide.
Although every artist is doing their best in making African music known worldwide, in this article I will love to give major reasons why Wizkid is the biggest Artist in Africa for the year 2021.
The first reason is that he’s the first African artist in this decade to have projects on Billboard Top 100 and also Billboard 200. Apart from that, he’s the first Nigerian Artist to spend over 52 weeks that’s a year on Billboard Global Album.
The second reason is that he’s the first African artist to have three consecutive shows at the O2 Arena for three days, the show started on November 28 and ended on December 1st.
Another reason why he’s the biggest Artist in Africa for the year 2021 is the fact that he’s the first Nigerian to be nominated in two categories for a Grammy Award. No Nigerian artist has ever received two nominations before at once.
Apart from that, he’s also the first African artist to be awarded the best African singer by Apple Music. He received the award some days ago after he became the most streamed artist on Apple Music in Africa this year and also the number one album on Apple Music in Africa.
Also, he becomes the first-ever Nigerian to be nominated for the Soul Train Awards and he became the first artist to win the award with his project and also the only African artist with the highest number of Soul Train Awards, winning two in total.
