After a successful year of achieving the target of the country set by cocoabod in the 2020/2021 season.
Leadership of Cocoabod the regulatory body for Cocoa production in Ghana has issued a circular to all the licences buying companies in the country as a caution.
The circular is to advised the Licenced buying companies LBCs against the buying of not thoroughly dry cocoa.
In the circular leadership of Ghana cocoabod indicated that in the coming season 2021/2022 if any LBC is found purchasing Not Thoroughly Dry Cocoa that company shall be surcharge.
Cocoabod when further to outline the consequences of buying Not Thoroughly Dry cocoa according to the Cocoa industry Regulations,
Consolidation Decree 1968, N.L.C.D 278 under the regulations 1 and regulations 13(1) which state the following;
Regulation 1, person shall buy or sell or offer or expose for sale of tender in satisfaction of any claim or demand or shall export any cocoa which is Not Thoroughly Dry or contain any foreign matter.
Regulation 13, any person who contravene the provisions of this Decree shall be guilty of all offence and shall upon summary conviction be liable to a term of imprisonment not exceeding five years but not less than one year.
